Today Room 6 and Room 16 went to the museum and we learned about how traditional Maori people settled in New Zealand when they first arrived. We also learnt about animal adaptation. Tom (Museum Educator) taught us about how animals attack and defend themselves with their adaptive features.

Year 8 Pineapple track
Yesterday, Room 6 and Room 16 went for a walk on the Pineapple track. It was quite cold and very foggy. The walk went on for about 4 hours. It was very delightful and I really enjoyed it.
The track got it's name because, in the 1920's, a grocer led a group of people up to the track and gave them a tin of pineapples at the top of a steep section.

Gig at lunchtime
On Monday the 21st of February 2011 DNI students got to watch a singer song writer called Matt Langley perform with his guitar. He sang 3 or 4 songs one of the songs was 'I can see clearly now'. He wrote it for a guy who asked him to write it for a special occasion. He also performed with Mr. Lousley. There were about 20 kids there watching him and every single kid loved it including me. So thank you Matt Langley for performing.

Element Project.
What is an element project?
An element project, is when you have a certain amount of time to do whatever you want. You can do it in a group or by yourself. For instance I am doing an element project with my friends, Lydie and Izzy. We're making a memory book of our time at D.N.I.
